Portofino Dolce & Gabbana pop-up store

A weekend inPortofino and my new Dolce&Gabbana clucth

The road and the sun of a Friday afternoon that’s drawing to evening. My boyfriend and I were on our way to Portofino. The weekend that was waiting for us was a part about business and a part about pleasure. We spent the first night at Covo di Nord Est with Grey Goose and the day after playing tourists around the town. Actually it was our second time in Portofino: the first was over eight years ago and in a completely different season, at late February. So we could say it was our first time in Portofino during summer. And if in summer every place becomes more beautiful, Portofino in summer is absolutely unique. After parking our car, we started to walk along the little street which leads to the famous Piazzetta. Shops on one hand to the other, traditional restaurants and colorful flowers all around. We had not yet reached the end when we saw it. In front of us the beautiful Piazzetta: the boats in the harbor and one of those sights that you can hardly manage to take away from the eyes for how beautiful it is. Then my attention was immediately catched by the Art Gallery of Dolce & Gabbana. A unique shop in the world: I had never seen anything like it in my whole life. An outdoor area that looks like a gazebo, surrounded on both sides and above by climbing plants, with a wooden table in the center, one of those antique tables with many iron chairs all around. It might appear like a bar, but it is not. It is the new pop up store of the brand that will stay opened in Portofino until 31 August and will sells a collection of unique pieces entirely inspired by the famous Ligurian town. All clothes and accessories of the store smell like Portofino and summer. Touch them was really excited: you can almost feel the story and the creativity of those who have imagined them. They are truly works of art, as stated in the name of the boutique. Then a table in the center of the main room (not by chance the one which host the entire Woman collection) with many small clutches, some hand-painted and others with precious crystals. All different, all so magnetic. I could not take my eyes off that table and those treasures. I also wanted to try one to see how it works on me: the salesgirl carefully inserted my iPhone in the proper space and placed the shoulder on me. It was not beautiful, more. A real postcard of Portofino, including pink flowers, blue sea and colorful houses. I dreamed for a few minutes, I confess. But it was a very important purchase, almost crazy despite the occasions where I really could wear it. So we leave the shop, with my eyes that still dream it in my outfit. Then, when I get distracted to share a photo on Instagram, he literally disappeared. I seek for a few minutes in the shops around, but without success. I was about to call him when I look up and see him. With the surprise that never ever imagined I would receive. He was carrying a bag with the words Portofino and the image of the campaign that took up the entire wall in the pop up store of Dolce & Gabbana. He had bought that bag, the one I tried, had splurged for me, for no reason. And it was at that moment that I understood really the meaning that the best gifts are those unexpected, taken without a special occasion. ‘Cause we create our own opportunities and make them special, just to let those we love beeing without words. And, for once in my life, I did not really know what to say.

Thank You. Thanks for giving me a little dream. Thanks for giving me the thrill of those surprises that you really do not expect. It had never happened and there is nothing that makes you feel happier.
