What is hidden behind the word “sexy”? What is “sexy” for me? Ever since we were little kid, they forced us to see the beauty within certain pre-set standards. We played with Barbies (which I loved, either), dolls with an absolutely unreal body and a perfectly made-up face, and with the Disney Princesses, also super thin, with little waists, big doe eyes, long blond and shiny hair. Even before understanding and form our personality, we were bombarded with companies trying to impose what it had tobe attractive. As adults, then, we have grown accustomed to having to compete with the images of the actresses on the glossy covers of magazines, the singers in music videos, the models during Victoria’s Secret lingerie fashion show. Real women but with skin and bodies far far awayfrom reality, the result of extreme workouts or, unfortunately, of a clever use of Photoshop. For this reason, I was immediately fascinated by the Calvin Klein Underwear new campaign launched in collaboration with Zalando, #shareyoursexy. A video in which the spokesperson Joan Smalls challenges us to share what it means for us the word sensuality, giving way to a real conversation on Instagram and Twitter. For this purpose, it was created a special online platform (check it out HERE), in which everyone can share their vision of what is sexy in an interactive way and find out what is sexy in the other 13 European countries where the campaign was launched! Sexy is not and can not be what others require us to be. Not to be confused with the beauty nor the external appearance. It’s the ability to interest and attract others, it’s something subjective, something that is within us, something that often we don’t even know to own. Sexy is liking ourselves, even before the other. Is an attitude towards life, the way we face problems. Sexy is self-confidence, is a way of speaking, of walking. It’s in the details, those able to make a difference, always. It’s a laugh that reveals a beautiful smile, or, why not, an unexpected pierced tongue. It is a seductive glance, even without mascara, ’cause make-up isn’t always necessary. It is the scent of white roses, reminiscent of crumpled sheets upon awakening. Sexy is wear what we like and do it with ease, a white shirt and a pair of skinny jeans or an evening dress with transparencies. Because is not the amount of clothing pieces we have on that determine whether or not we are sexy. Only one thing is really important: wear whatever makes us feel good, highlighting our strengths. There is nothing sexier than those who are able to express their authentic personality.
